Famous for Strong Winds: Particularly in its central part, Phu Yen is celebrated for its beautiful beaches and strong winds. The area enjoys a six month season for reliable winds, unaffected by moon cycles, making it perfect for kite rider enthusiasts.
Phu Yen: A Natural Wind Haven
Summer Season (April to October): During this period, the Southern monsoon brings gentle winds, perfect for Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding to explore beautiful coral reefs, or marine life and enjoy freediving activities.
Winter Season (November to March): The Northern monsoon delivers strong winds, ideal for kitesurfing and surfing, which thrive on these powerful gusts.
During the winter, Phu Yen experiences winds ranging from 15 to 26 knots for extended periods. You will need kites sized between 7 and 12 meters to make the most of these conditions. With cool temperatures ranging from 25 to 29 degrees both day and night, it is highly recommended to bring a 2 to 4mm wetsuit for comfort.
Phu Yen’s unique: This spot is perfect for kitesurfing at high and mid tides. During very low tide, there is a dedicated kite zone free of hazards. wind patterns make it a versatile destination for a variety of water sports throughout the year.
